So there are two main options for getting to Costa Rica by air, either you fly into the San Juan Santamaria International Airport (in San Jose) or you can fly into Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (in Liberia). When flying from Canada (in our case out of Calgary, AB) we first fly to Toronto, then on a 5 hour flight to Liberia. The frequency of available flights from Canada varies throughout the year. You will find more available flight options between December thru April than you will May thru November. High Season (which is the dry season) in Costa Rica is typically from November'ish to April'ish.
At the end of the day, when the views are like this, it makes #gettingtoCostaRica on a 12 hour trek from Calgary so worth it....time and time again.
